	"Let the waves surge,
the human ship is still moving forward.
There is fog in front. Ah, beware of the reef!
Night is coming, in the darkness, 
do you see the Lighthouse?" - Shu Hong-Sing

Long long time ago, it is the ocean that led to the discovery of Hong Kong; beneath the undulating mountains, skyscrapers rise like new peaks. The night sky of Victoria Harbour twinkles like a constellation of stars, with neon lights standing as lighthouses, illuminating the distant, tumultuous sea. Regardless how thick the fog, how deep the mist, or how heavy the rain, as long as those ever-shinning lights are there, we shall all recognize this cherished land, and the music of the waves reverberates with the longing from the shore. 

The Light House stands sentinel by the Victoria harbour, guiding those returning across the sea with its radiant glow. On the shore, people connect with the ocean through the phone at the booth and listen to the melody woven by the waves at the moment. For those people who cannot be here, the waves’ symphony could be listened through live streaming.

在許久許久以前因為海洋，香港才被發現，
連綿的山脈下，高樓大廈化作新的山峰。
維多利亞港的夜幕如繁星閃爍，霓虹燈彷如座座燈塔，
無論迷霧氣多重多深，又或是大雨滂沱，
只要那永不休班的燈光在眼前閃耀，
我們都會認得這片熟悉的土地，
讓海浪奏出樂章，聲聲迴響著岸上永不止息的思念。

《燈塔》豎立在維港的岸邊，以霓虹燈作領航，指引著海上回家的人，
岸上的人以電話與海聯繫，聆聽著以當刻海浪形態所譜成的樂章。
海浪的樂章除可於現場電話亭內以話筒收聽，不在場的觀眾也可通過線上直播網址收聽

	About the Performance

A millisecond of distortion. A millimeter of overlap.
Step into the four-dimensional trajectory deviation.

The scientific concepts of three-dimensional space and one-dimensional time have long inspired the art world, from Marcel Duchamp’s Nude Descending a Staircase (No. 2) and Eadweard Muybridge’s The Horse in Motion to the wormhole journeys of Interstellar. In theatre, how does "dimension" take shape?

Dimension Flâneur disrupts time and space through real-time visual manipulation and generative sound, using non-linear computation to create shifting motion and sonic landscapes. As moving bodies and notes traverse temporal fractures, the audience is immersed in a fluid, multidimensional experience.

Expanding on their research into dimensional hybridity, Keith Lam, co-founder of Dimension Plus, and media artist Seth Hon collaborate with an eclectic lineup — including acclaimed pop music video directors Kwokin and Kelly Cheuk, composer Lam Fung, and music producer Lim Giong. Alongside live performers and musicians, they construct a stage where time bends and space folds into a transcendent spectacle.

科學理論中的三維空間和一維時間在藝術世界中經常被演繹，最廣為人知的包括馬塞爾．杜象的畫作《下樓的裸女二號》、埃德沃德．邁布里奇的攝影作品《飛馳中的馬》和電影《星際啟示錄》中的蟲洞冒險。來到劇場，「維度」可以是什麼？

《維度漫步》透過非線性運算和多種編程設定，重置現場即時拍攝的畫面，呈現出不同的動態視覺效果及生成音樂，探索非常規的維度軌跡。當身體和音符在時空的裂縫中穿梭，觀眾將走進⼀場聲境交融的多媒體劇場。Dimension Plus 創辦人之一林欣傑夥拍媒體藝術家韓家俊，持續探索維度混合的創作研究，並邀請活躍於流行音樂錄像拍攝的導演郭健及卓嘉莉，以及作曲家林丰和音樂創作人林強，聯合現場的形體演員及樂手，共同在獨特設計舞台空間中呈現時間的扭曲與空間的堆疊。

	Japanese sound artist Ei Wada and Hong Kong media artist Keith Lam expand the definition of electrical appliances. In this peculiar ensemble of everyday objects, "old" media are given a new life as musical and visual instruments to cook up a mixed-media musical rhapsody alongside musician Akira Ataka, local rapper Gold Mountain and drummer Kittlau.
CRT-TVs turned drums, barcode scanners turned musical instruments… Ei Wada's unique and electrifying music reimaginations have captivated audiences worldwide. Underneath what appears to be a "kuso" at first glance lies the rebirth and tribute to old electrical appliances. Keith Lam, known for his works conceived through the concept of remediation, is bringing back his previous works that nod to the readymade works of Nam June Paik and Marcel Duchamp. In addition, Remediation Ensemble introduces new musical and visual instruments devised from neon signs, revisiting the essence of digital and analogue technology, and transforming the brand-new performance venue into a heterogeneous dimension.
“Remediation Ensemble” is the finale performance of ProjectPlayaround. This world premiere is also the first performance to be hosted at The Theatre of the East Kowloon Cultural Centre.

	媒體再媒體，來一場合奏？
日本聲音藝術家和田永(Ei Wada)及香港媒體藝術家林欣傑聯手創作，解放電器的定義，以非日常手法演奏日常，將新舊媒體再造成音樂和視覺的新媒體藝術表演，並聯同日本樂手Akira Ataka、本地說唱表演者Gold Mountain及搖滾樂隊鼓手Kittlau進行一次媒體和音樂狂想。
將電視當作鼓、條碼(barcode)機當樂器，和田永自成一派的電音狂想巡迴了全世界，Kuso(惡搞)的外表其實是對舊電器的致敬和重生；同樣以拆解再重組方式創作的林欣傑，除了帶上致敬白南準和杜象的視覺樂器外，兩人還以霓虹燈共製非常規的視覺樂器。在全新的表演空間創造異質維度，混合數位科技，回歸媒體藝術的純粹，重回類比之詩。
《再媒體重奏》為ProjectPlayaround 總結演出，此世界首演同為東九文化中心劇場首個演出，展示跨領域和地域的藝術創造力，由此為起點並前進世界。

Inside the veiled bamboo structure, the concrete grows as time goes by 
A cityscape is revealed under the wavey curtain, and wave likes wind 
This is a Temporary Landscape 
This is an Eternal Landscape “The Waves” borrows the landscape of bamboo scaffolding, through “wind” to construct “waves”, and the floating waves create a unique cityscape of Hong Kong. The wave form, the light and sound are generated by the weather data collected in Hong Kong between 1 July 1997 and 30 June 2022 . This installation allows audience to immerse themselves in the changing weather and scenery of Hong Kong over the past twenty-five years within one short hour.

穿上輕紗的竹棚內，混凝土年年月月地長高

隨風律動如浪的布幕下，築起了城市風景

這是臨時的風景

這是永恆的風景
《築浪》借用了竹棚的風景，風吹拂之，飄逸如海浪般律動，一片片飄逸的海浪築成了香港的獨特城市景觀。借用竹棚的結構和紗，在風的吹拂下，輕紗構成如浪的形態。而風的方向與強弱、燈光和聲音，則以1997年7月1日至2022年6月30日之間的天氣數據所生成，觀眾一小時內可置身在香港二十五年的天氣風景變幻當中。

reCONNECT 2024 : NEW CANVAS takes place at the Grand Theater foyer of the
National Taichung Theater. The space is adorned with an organic and imitation-natural
cave design, creating a technologically sublime-new canvas. The performance incorporates
interdisciplinary experimental music and AI-generated immersive audio-visuals,
touching on themes of humanities, geography, nature, environment, electronics, and
classical elements from Taiwan and Hong Kong. This is an immersive art performance
that breaks through time and space restrictions. You will see a new vision and reCONNECT
your multiple sensory experience with future art.
	《reCONNECT 2024：NEW CANVAS》以臺中國家歌劇院大劇院前廳的光之曲幕
為場域，整體設計呼應自然洞穴的有機概念，創造出科技崇高的新畫布。演出內
容包含臺灣與香港的人文、地理、自然環境等視覺意象，融入電子與古典等跨域
實驗音樂，以及由AI人工智慧影像生成的沉浸音像表演。
這是一場突破時空限制、體驗身處異度空間的沉浸式藝術展演，在恍惚中你將看
見一處新視界，重新連結你與未來藝術的多重感官體驗。

Time and Being, Memory and Remembering
 
Memories of memories interfere with consciousness and cognition in the disorganized electronic memory. 
Recognized changes collage new memories. 
The dimensions of familiarity, &#38;nbsp;
It is not a re-recognition of construction. 
It is a hyperreality which triggerd by the existence of the past.
 
Neon light signage, &#38;nbsp;
Fading and Construsting are reset together in the cave of memory,&#38;nbsp;
New dimensions pile up in a jumble of memories and recollections.

時間和存在，回憶與記憶

記憶的回憶在紊亂的電子記載中干擾意識和認知，

似曾相識的維度，
不是一種再認知的塑造，
是曾經的存在引發的超真實。

消逝和建造一同重置在記憶的洞穴，

&#38;nbsp;“In spring’s serene embrace, tranquil water flows with grace; sky, water, and land above and below, boundless expanse azure aglow.” – Fan Zhongyan (989–1052), Yueyang Pavilion, Song dynasty

Traditional Chinese gardens emphasise the harmonious fusion of architectural beauty and the beauty of nature. The pavilion stands out as a distinctive, richly detailed structure with varying elevations. It possesses both practical and aesthetic value, serving as both a viewing point and an integral part of the scenery. “Scenery-Borrowing” and “Scenery-Framing” applies in the design of pavilion in traditional Chinese garden — the pavilion borrows and frames the scenery outside as its own painting. 

“Sky, Water and Land” borrow this pavilion design methodology, and scenery it borrows is the scenery of Hong Kong


These two technique of is borrowed for “Sky, Water and Land”, which the scenery it borrow is the scenery of Hong Kong's twenty-five years. The work captures the weather data from July 1, 1997 to June 30, 2022 and generates the sky, water and land framed in the pavilion. The screen on top of the pavilion is a time-lapse of the Hong Kong sky in the 25 year, while the data of rainfall is generated into a stainless steel sculpture in the form of ocean waves, the wind data is “weathered” into a stone sculpture, and the dynamics of the sky, water, and land are composed into a soundscape which you would listen inside the pavilion.

	「至若春和景明，波瀾不驚，上下天光，一碧萬頃」。 ——宋．范仲淹（989–1052年）《岳陽樓記》

中國古典園林注重建築美與自然美的融糅，「亭」的建築形象別緻、豐富且高低錯落，兼具實用與欣賞價值——它既是觀景處，又是景中物。而中國園林中亭的亭常以「借景」、「框景」手法，把亭外四周風景借為已用，框成內在的畫作。

《一碧萬頃》的借用了這種「借景」和「框景」的手法，是借來的風景，則是香港廿十五的風景。作品擷取了1997年7月1日至2022年6月30日問的天氣數據，生成了天、水和土框在亭內。亭頂上的屏幕是廿十五年香港天空的縮時風景，而降雨量則生成了如海浪般的不銹鋼雕塑，風的數據則 “風化” 成石頭狀的雕塑，而天、水和土三者的流動形態則譜成了亭內的聲音 。

“Cityscape Quadriptych” is in collaborated between Vicky Fung and Keith Lam; the former is a great musician with strong empathic emotions while the latter with strength in integrating arts &#38;amp; technology. Through their joint efforts, the bio data recording from both themselves and invited travelling musicians in four cities (Beijing, Chengdu, Hong Kong and Shanghai) are transformed into a series of data sculpture incorporates with music. Apart from experiencing the emotions of each traveller’s encounter towards the city through the music, audience is encouraged to experience the work with physical touch; and open their senses to transcend time and space to meet the artwork in different dimensions. 
	《旅人風景》是由音樂人馮穎琪與媒體藝術家林欣傑共同協作的藝術裝置作品；前者擅長共情共感，後者擅於運用科技，通過二人聯手，把自身及應邀旅者與城市遇上的數據記錄轉化成融入音樂的數據雕塑。觀者除能用耳朵體驗旅者與城市相遇的情感，也能用手用身體與之互動，用感官越過時間空間與作品相遇。

Instead, he experiences some things in depth.”

When we roam in a foreign place, we magnify our senses, responding to first encounters and re-encounters, the scenery in front of us, the sounds we hear, and send them into our hearts to become part of our bodies, and we symbiose with this feeling, and then we co-create a sculpture of a traveller-roamer that belongs to us.
“Cityscape Quadriptych” uses intelligent devices to record the moods of travellers in other places, capturing the feelings of travellers into data, and then transforming them into music scores and sculptures, using the data of emotions as materials, and using the travel experiences to create a piece of artwork.

I went back to my dorm, opened the old windows, and let the breeze and light wash in. I was standing right in front of the windows, there was only me and my shadow. The trees and flowers seemed like dancing in the wind, and I recalled old memories about picking longan from the trees, also the moment when I was rafting between the mountains &#38;amp; water. I fantasied about watching the sunset with my best friend on Mount Davis. Then I eventually went back to the bustling city, watching the huge waves at the edge of the city during typhoon 8.


All these are the stories between the City and I.


A former psychiatric nurse, painter Chu Hing Wah is adept at observing urban landscapes and people, using them as inspiration for his work. “The City and I” focuses on Chu's emotions when he paints, combining eight old and new paintings from his collection. Through a series of dialogue between Chu and media artist Keith Lam, and the application of a smart bracelet to collect Chu's emotional data during his creative process, the feelings become immersed in the artwork and are transformed into animation. This immersive experience allows us to enter the heart of his paintings and to experience the story that unfolds between him and the city.


我回到了寄宿的宿舍，推開那扇老舊的窗，微風和陽光灑在身上。我就站在窗前，只有我和我的影子；窗前的樹和繁花隨風而舞，我想起了那次摘龍眼的軼事；泛舟在山水之間，幻想與摯友在摩星嶺看日落；我又回到了熙來攘往的城市，八號風球下在高樓大廈的城市邊看大浪 －這是我和城市的二三事。


曾任精神專科醫護的畫家朱興華，擅於觀察城市風景和人，並作為創作靈感。《我和城市的二三事》以朱先生作畫時的情緒為核心，結合了新舊畫作共八幅，通過林欣傑和朱興華的對談，以及運用智能手環，推演及紀錄朱先生創作新畫時的情緒數據，讓作畫的感情注入畫作將之幻化成動態，引領大家進入朱先生的畫作之中，感受一幕幕關於他和城市的故事。

The medium connects human and object, bridging multi-dimensions. Electronics medium places and shuffles humans between the virtual and reality with just a fingertip, enabling travel across dimensions without limitations in time and boundaries. “Cityscape is the Message” digitises Hong Kong’s cityscape, and reshaping it into a dynamic and liquid dimension that immerses the audience into an ever-changing multidimensional Hong Kong, reminiscent of the ever-morphing universe of the electronics medium.
